Northlands Opens Its Downtown Office

EDMONTON, AB – Northlands officially opened its downtown office on Wednesday, May 6 with over 100 community and business leaders in attendance.

At the formal reception, Board Chair, Andy Huntley spoke about how Northlands and the City’s downtown business community are strongly intertwined.

“Northlands delivers successful and well attended events that give our city character and a distinct sense of community. We are committed to driving increased business opportunity and enhanced tourism for Edmonton’s downtown, said Huntley. “In 2008, Northlands generated more than $355 million in direct spending and $1 billion in economic activity in the capital region and throughout Alberta.”

As one of Edmonton’s leading tourist destinations, the success of Northlands events translates into greater success for the downtown business community – including increased hotel stays and bustling restaurants and retail outlets. Northlands Downtown is on the second floor of the World Trade Centre and will enable one of Edmonton’s leading business and community leaders to deliver exceptional business, tourism, and entertainment experiences in the heart of Edmonton’s city centre.

“By locating downtown, we are working towards increasing awareness and profile of Northlands as a business and community leader by connecting more directly with our many business, government and community stakeholders, said Ken Knowles, Northlands President. “Our downtown office provides an excellent venue to showcase our major events, from Capital EX to the Rexall Edmonton Indy, along with national events such as the Canadian Curling Trials, to broader business and community audiences.”
