Application Guidelines – Northlands Community Investment & Outreach

Northlands is deeply committed to supporting the numerous communities throughout Northern Alberta and the territories. Each year hundreds of nonprofit organizations benefit through our community programs and partnerships.

To ensure our support has the greatest impact possible, our community investment efforts are focused on initiatives related to:

Education
Arts and Culture
Youth
Agriculture
Youth Amateur Sports/Recreation

Support Limitations and Exclusions

We ask that you carefully review the following “Support Limitations and Exclusions” to be sure your program falls within our focus areas and meets our criteria for support. These are not considered part of Northlands’ focus for community support:

Personal assistance for individuals
Religious, labour or fraternal organizations
Projects originating outside of Canada
National Disaster assistance funds
Third party requests to help with fundraising for service clubs, telethons, runs, dinners, circuses, etc.
Professional Sporting events
Freelance film or video productions
Any form of travel, accommodation or meal expense funding
Operating costs (these would be expenses needed to run the day-to-day organization)
Capital building projects

In our Community Investment section we outline five priority areas of community outreach for Northlands - Education, Arts and Culture, Youth, Agriculture and Amateur Sports/Recreation. Briefly outline how this project's objectives are aligned with the Northlands Community Outreach Vision and Support Priorities. Please note, events aligned outside these areas may not be approved for support.

Your application is important to us and we will do our very best to get back to you within 4-6 weeks of receiving your request. Any incomplete submissions may not be considered.

Keep in mind that because we tend to receive far more requests than we are able to fulfill, we are often forced to make some very difficult decisions with regards to our selection process and in allocating our resources.

Note: Northlands reserves the right to request a copy of a charity's or organization's most recent audited financial statements, list of operating Board of Directors and supporting information to illustrate the strength of its governance practices.
