Ever walk into the Edmonton EXPO Centre and receive a warm greeting from someone in a blue shirt? Ever go to K-Days and buy a 50/50 ticket? Or maybe your son or daughter went on an educational tour at Farmfair International? These are all instances where you might have encountered a Northlands Volunteer.
From teens helping out during their summer break to retirees getting out into the community and making a difference, nearly everyone has what it takes to be an important part of K-Days, Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR), Canadian Derby, Farmfair International and virtually all of the other events we host throughout the year. And if it’s something you’ve never considered before, here are five great reasons why you should:
1. See Your Community in Action
Northlands is a place where the people of Edmonton can come together. Being a volunteer here means getting to be there not just for the really big events like K-Days, but also smaller, more intimate moments that might otherwise fly under the radar.
2. Be a Part of Amazing Events
Many of our volunteers probably never thought they’d get to be a part of something like the Ford World Men’s Curling Championship, but come this April they’ll be doing exactly that. And you could be one of them!
3. Meet New People
Being a volunteer means working with other volunteers and the amazing team here at Northlands. You’ll like it. We’re really nice!
4. Free Stuff & Discounts
Our volunteers enjoy access to the same perks and discounts our employees get, including free parking, a free shirt, meal vouchers and 50% off Northlands Store and food purchases! You’ll also be entered for free giveaways for tickets and other items.
5. The Big Party
We throw amazing parties at Northlands almost daily, but we pay extra attention to our exclusive Volunteer Appreciation event! We love getting everyone together to celebrate the contributions they’ve made over the year with great food, games and entertainment.
Basically, it boils down to this: Being a Northlands Volunteer is a lot of fun! And what’s better in life than having fun while helping people enjoy moments they’ll remember forever?
