Northlands Was Founded In 1879

Northlands was created in 1879 for the purpose of bringing together farmers, ranchers and agriculturalists to share information on what was happening in their industries. Founding members were the first group of volunteers, starting Northlands time-honoured tradition of dedication to community service. The first exhibition was attended by 275 people at Fort Edmonton on October 15,1879. Livestock was on display, as well as grain, vegetables, and handcrafted items. A total of $173 in prizes was given out.

Through the years, Northlands has evolved with Edmonton and the surrounding region. Today the scope of our business has expanded to focus on attracting, enabling and facilitating business, trade, sports and entertainment. We’re proud to partner with the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Tourism, The Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association to profile Edmonton and to attract and produce world-class events.
