Northlands and Junior Achievement Northern Alberta join forces

EDMONTON, AB - Northlands and Junior Achievement Northern Alberta/Northwest Territories are pleased to announce an exciting new partnership for 2011, one that will help educate more than 16,000 students about being prepared for the work world through hands-on programs.

“Northlands has played a large part in helping shape the community fabric here for more than 130 years,” Richard L. Andersen, President and Chief Executive Officer, said. “Investing in the future of our children is very important to Northlands. They're working hard at becoming 'junior achievers' and Northlands is very excited about doing whatever we can to help these young men and women reach their goals.”

Northlands will contribute $100,000 to Junior Achievement Northern Alberta, and is proud to be the title sponsor of this year's Alberta Business Hall of Fame dinner at which the Hall of Fame's two new inductees, Audrey Luft and the Ghermezian family, will be announced as Laureates. “Junior Achievement is thrilled to partner with Northlands as a key sponsor of our programs and the Alberta Business Hall of Fame," said Robert Fernandez, Chairman of the Board Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta/NWT. "Northlands is an excellent example of an organization who takes that extra step to become not just supporters, but champions of the organizations they are connected to. This outstanding commitment from Northlands will enable JA to carry forward its mission of preparing all children to succeed in our global community.”

Jay Ball, President and Chief Executive Officer of Junior Achievement of Northern Alberta/NWT, echoed Fernandez's thoughts. “JA's been looking for a unique community partner for some time now, a partner that shares our hope for both kids, and our community.I know that this partnership with Northlands will help JA unlock the potential of our future leaders while providing JA a great partner to go forward with.”
